Professional Career: 
Vic Diaz recently completed his fifth season in Player Development with the Philadelphia Phillies. Three of those seasons were spent as the organization’s Lower Level Pitching Coordinator, working closely with the development of pitchers from the Dominican Academy through Low-A. He began his tenure with the Phillies as a pitching coach at the Rookie level before moving into the same role with Low-A. Prior to joining the Phillies, Diaz served as the pitching coach at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach (NCAA II) where he also contributed to the program’s recruiting efforts. He played a role in the recruitment of Kelsey Ward, who went on to sign with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2022. In his first season with the Eagles, Diaz’s pitching staff showed improvement, lowering its ERA by more than two-and-a-half runs per game while reducing opponents’ hits by three per contest. That turnaround helped Embry-Riddle improve from 20–30 to 29–22 in 2019 and earn an NCAA II Regional appearance. His staff also produced a First Team All-SSC selection after posting a successful season. The 2020 staff was on pace to continue that success with a 3.84 ERA—the lowest team ERA of the program’s NCAA era—before the season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.
